Becoming an ambulance officer

Ambulance Officers, who work in our patient transport service and emergency support service, are qualified with a Certificate IV in Health Care (Ambulance). This equips them to administer pre-hospital care during non-emergency routine transfers of patients and perform first responder emergency duties.

Recruitment for ambulance officers is undertaken on an ‘as needs’ basis and is initially for casual employment only. Permanent appointments are drawn from this casual employee pool. Training is provided by the SA Ambulance Service Clinical Education unit for successful applicants.

All calls for positions vacant are advertised in The Advertiser and on www.sahealthcareers.com.au.
